Sunnyvale Girls Softball League 8U, 10U, 12U and 14U tournament travel teams:

The teams will play 3 to 7 tournaments (depending on the division) in June/July and 4-5 tournaments in September/October.  All tournaments are local so no overnight stays are required.  Tournament play is normally 3 games on Saturday and then single elimination on Sunday (1-3 games).

This is a great opportunity forgirls who love to play softball and who really want to improve their softball playing ability.  10U and above divisions will typically play over 30 games during June/July.

Here is a brief description of what the summer travel season is all about:

·      Players compete for spots on a team - unlike recreational season, not all players that tryout on the May 1st weekend will make it on a team.

·        Players participate in weekend long tournaments - teams play in local weekend tournaments – usually within 1 hour drive.  Depending on age division, tournaments are every weekend in June and July (July 4th weekend is off)

·        The teams will practice 2-3 times per week - each practice lasting approximately 2 hours.

·        The teams will have 12-14 players on the roster.

·         Playing time is based on skill level – although playing time on Saturdays should be more equal, Sunday games become very competitive and playing time will be determined primarily by skill level and attitude.

·         The cost of the 2010 summer season will be $400 for each player – covers tournament registration fees, uniforms, equipment, umpire/field fees, etc.

The level of play is high and the games are competitive.  Travel softball is tremendously fun and a great "team" experience - the girls really bond as a group and create memories that will last a lifetime!  By the end of the season, the girls improve so much that they are essentially different players.  However, it also requires a large commitment and should not be entered lightly.  your family will be committing to watch softball games all day nearly every weekend of June and July, plus 4-6 hours of practice each week.
